[VoIP FAQ] I keep losing calls before I can answer
As you’d expect, we get our fair share of support calls, they range from queries on how to check voicemail and change callflows, all the way through to questions about dialling internationally and porting numbers.
What we notice, is that some questions are more common than others. We thought we’d take a few minutes to give a quick run-down of some of our most commonly asked communications questions, to help you out of any potential VoIP pickles!
I keep losing calls before I can answer.
If you’re losing a call before you have time to answer, whether this is on your deskphone or perhaps on a mobile divert, you’ll want to look at changing the length of time your device(s) ring for. Like on your mobile phone, where you can extend the length of time your mobile rings before it goes to voicemail, your VoIP system should have some control of how long certain devices ring for, before the call moves to the next step of the callflow. For example, if a call diverts to a voicemail after 10 seconds of being unanswered, and this isn’t giving you enough time to answer, you might want to consider extending this to 20 or 30 seconds to make sure you can get to your calls in time.
